Trixie's Top Tips for a Dog Friendly Holiday in Ludlow

If you’ve ever stayed at our Ludlow Touring Park you may have met Trixie, our Assistant Park Manager’s dog and a valued member of our team!

Whilst she takes her role very seriously, she still likes to take time out of her park patrols to check out the local dog friendly attractions and report back to her humans with her reviews.

Now that she has compiled her findings, Trixie would like to share her top tips to make sure that her furry friends and guests have the best dog friendly stay at the park possible!

Settling Into Your Dog Friendly Accommodation

As with all our caravan parks, Ludlow Touring Park is a dog-friendly caravan park and we do our best to cater for your four-legged friend when you stay with us.

Trixie’s role includes ensuring that the humans keep the water bowls filled up outside reception and that the on-site shop is stocked with all your dog essentials such as dog bags and treats.

She also recommends starting your day with a run around the secure dog field located on the park. With a picnic bench for the humans to rest and take in the beautiful views of the Clee Hills, the field is ideal for our four-legged guests to stretch their legs and run around.

If your pup prefers a spa treatment on holiday or has muddy paws after their day of adventures, don’t forget to stop by the indoor dog wash located next to the amenities block. Visit our on-site shop to pick up dog shampoo, brushes and super absorbent towels for that extra special pampering.

Exploring Ludlow

The local town of Ludlow, located 1.5 miles away from the park, is a very welcoming town for both people and their pooches.

Trixie’s tip is to look for the water bowls outside shops and eateries, as this will indicate that they are dog friendly, and although not all dog friendly places will have bowls it is a good way to start planning your adventures in Ludlow with your furry friend.

For places to rest and refuel, Ludlow has a variety of dog friendly restaurants and cafes to choose from.

Csons cafe sits along the River Teme and is a great spot for humans to grab a coffee and cake whilst your pooch has a splash around in the river.

If you’re looking for tasty beer, Ludlow Brewery is a fantastic option located near to the railway station. Enjoy their range of beer and sample their delicious food such as scotch eggs and sausage rolls whilst listening to live music.

For a larger meal and a cocktail, head to the Feathers Hotel, an iconic half-timbered Tudor building in the town centre. With a cosy historic decor for you and your dog to enjoy, sample their menu with dishes made from locally sourced produce.

Planning Your Dog Friendly Itinerary

Ludlow is also home to plenty of dog friendly attractions, perfect for planning your holiday itinerary and including your four-legged friend.

Trixie’s top recommendation is Ludlow Castle, a beautiful medieval ruin that is a landmark in Ludlow’s town centre. Dogs are welcome to explore the castle grounds, as well as join you on the Cafe’s terrace.

Another iconic landmark in Ludlow’s landscape is St Laurence, an impressive church featuring stunning architectural details dating as far back as the 12th century. Make sure to take a look around the many medieval stained-glass windows.

Stretch Those Legs

As much as our human guests might prefer to relax and watch the world go by on their holiday, Trixie knows that her furry friends are keen to get out and explore the sights and smells of their home from home!

This is why she has tested the local walks so that the humans know the best spots for their pooch to stretch their legs.

For beautiful views that take in the landscape of Ludlow and the Clee Hills beyond, head to Whitcliffe Common. Follow the woodland slopes up from the banks of the River Teme until you reach the grassland of the Common, where you will find picturesque scenery and plenty of footpaths to explore.

Four miles away from our Ludlow Touring Park, you will find the enchanting Mortimer Forest. Now part of Forestry England, this stunning woodland has a variety of trails to follow, depending on how adventurous you and your pooch are feeling! Trixie recommends the Whitcliffe Loop, a two-mile, moderate trail that offers views across Mary Knoll Valley.
