Ride a Coracle Down the River Severn

The perfect vessel for two people, relive a key part of Ironbridge's history with a trip in a coracle. 

A bowl-shaped boat made from wood, they were traditionally used as a mode of transport, as well as for activities such as fishing.

Nowadays you can hire a coracle to take a romantic trip down the River Severn. Based in the village of Jackfield, only 10 miles from our Stanmore Hall Touring Park, coracles can be hired out for an hour from companies such as Shropshire Raft Tours.

Pick a Picnic at Ludlow Farmshop

Set amongst 6500 acres of farmland and only a 10-minute drive from our Ludlow Touring Park, Ludlow Farmshop is a fantastic place to not only find locally sourced produce, but to also find produce supplied by the estate itself - and you can't get more local than that!

Why not visit the Farmshop with your significant other and put together a handpicked selection of tasty treats that you can take away as a picnic?

Choose between delicious deli items such as chicken and ham hock pie or a cumberland sausage roll, add an enticing jar of chutney (the mango picnic chutney would be perfect), and finish off with a dessert of hand-baked cakes or biscuits. 

Don't forget the nibbles! Fill in the picnic gaps with nuts, crisps or chocolate - you will be spoilt for choice.

Smell the Roses at David Austin

Known for their award-winning roses, David Austin Roses have been growing beautiful blooms in Shropshire since 1961 and have stunning rose gardens for visitors to explore.

As the most romantic of flowers, the elegant rose is the star of all five of their themed gardens. Be transported to a world of glorious colour and fragrance only 10 miles away from our Stanmore Hall Touring Park.

Find a rose in the gift shop to take home as a fantastic memento of your holiday, or stop for a slice of cake and a cup of tea in the cafe. 

Spot the Deer at Attingham Park

A grand Georgian mansion set in a beautiful 200-acre estate, Attingham Park boasts woodland walks, a walled garden and orchard, plus a deer park.

Home to the Attingham fallow deer, this National Trust property is less than ten miles away from our Oxon Hall Touring Park and is a haven for wildlife such as swans and otters.

Dine on a Steam Train

Be transported back in time and take a ride on a heritage steam train at Severn Valley Railway.

With the Kidderminster station only fourteen miles from our Stanmore Hall Touring Park, journey to the various stations along the 32-mile route and experience 1930s travel. 

Relax and unwind as you take in the beautiful scenery from the comfort of your train carriage, or hop off at a station of your choice and stop for a drink at the pubs along the way.

Become Zookeepers for a Day

Ranked the 2nd highest in the UK in the zoo and aquarium category by TripAdvisor, Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World offer fascinating animal experiences for a date with a difference.

Choose their Keeper For A Day experience and spend the day meeting various animals throughout the zoo. You could be giving Victor the giant tortoise his breakfast before feeding the foxes their afternoon snack!

From meerkats to lemurs, hedgehogs to reptiles, Hoo Zoo has a wonderful variety of animals for visitors to discover and is only half an hour's drive from our Stanmore Hall Touring Park.

Enjoy an Ice Cream Amongst the Flowers

Located in the beautiful market town of Shrewsbury, head to The Quarry park where you will find river walks, open parkland and ice cream!

Set within the Quarry, find a quiet bench in The Dingle and enjoy your ice cream in this landscaped sunken garden. 

Easily accessible from the park and ride adjacent to our Oxon Hall Touring Park, you can discover beautiful ornamental seasonal flowerbeds, rockeries and water features in this tranquil location.
