Day Trip to Portmadog
If you are thinking of visiting our Riverside Touring Park, in Betws-Y-Coed. Here is a splendid day trip for the more adventurous, which is not advertised in the usual places. Leave your car with us in the park, walk to the railway station in Betws-Y-Coed (3 minute walk) and catch the Arriva Train Wales service to Blaenau Ffestiniog (40 minutes).
Your train will terminate at Blaenau Ffestiniog, known as the heart of the national park. Disembark and walk over the foot bridge to the adjourning platform where you will find the Ffestiniog Steam Railway, waiting to take you down to the beautiful seaside town of Porthmadog (the pictures show the steam train in the background).
Porthmadog is a beautiful sea side town dominated on one side by a mountain known as ‘Moel y Gest'. with nice, individual shops, good eating places of lots to do and see. The harbour is full of boats, with lots going on and there are beaches close by for the kids to play on.
All in all ‘a great day out’. Enjoy
